The Daring Adventures of Alaska’s Pioneer Pilots, at the Valdez Museum, highlights the many stories related to local aviation in this permanent aviation history exhibition. This exhibition brings the exploits of Alaska’s early bush pilots to life. For example, vivid photographs, unique relics and brilliant motion picture displays help bring the viewer into the pilots’ unique world.
Undoubtably, air travel has long been an essential mode of transportation for Alaskan towns. The Alaskan bush aviation in the early 20th century is legendary. Valdez is as far north as you can get while still having a shipping port that doesn’t freeze. It was home to many famous pioneer bush pilots such as Bob Reeve, Owen Meals, and Bill Egan. This exhibit highlights their amazing feats.
