The Missing Peace: Artists Consider the Dalai Lama

San Antonio Museum of Art, 2011

Design, custom interactive software, custom media display, and installation.

This cutting-edge contemporary exhibition explores the idea of art as an interpretation of, and a catalyst for, peace. Over 80 artists, including Marina Abramovic, Laurie Anderson, Richard Avedon, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Chuck Close, El Anatsui, Jenny Holzer, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Anish Kapoor, Enrique Martinez Celaya, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Pat Steir, and Bill Viola, presented artworks that expressed their perspectives on the Dalai Lama and his endeavors.

During the exhibition’s run at the San Antonio Museum of Art, visitors were invited to share their own images and text messages of peace. Each contribution was then added to an ongoing mix that was displayed on two large flat panel monitors in the lobby. Flutter & Wow Museum Projects designed and programmed the unique set of technologies that enabled visitor contributions to be gathered, formatted, sent and displayed in the videos.
