Investigate Labs

University of Michigan Museum of Natural History, 2019

Exhibition consultation, project management, design, fabrication and installation

Who doesn’t want an opportunity to step into a real science lab and investigate fossils or peek through a microscope to observe molecules up close? At the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History, visitors can become hands-on scientists in the Nature Lab and the Micro Worlds Lab.

The Nature Lab features hands-on collections inquiry, highlighting specimens from paleontology, zoology, botany, geology, and anthropology. The Micro Worlds Lab offers opportunities to use microscopes and lab equipment to inquire into molecular, cellular, and developmental biology.

Flutter & Wow worked closely with UMMNH staff, managing the project, and designing the overall visual themes for both of the Museum’s Investigate Labs.We created and installed colorful wall murals, fabricated mounts for artifacts, labeled and installed drawer specimens, designed lab signage, and more.
