Guardians of the Great Lakes

Great Lakes Children’s Museum, 2015

Gallery master planning, complete exhibition design, fabrication, and installation.

This permanent exhibition for the Great Lakes Children’s Museum in Traverse City is a fun, hands-on exhibition allowing visitors of all ages to playfully explore and learn about all things Great Lakes – from the role of the the US Coast Guard to the nature of waves, from water and air turbulence to lake ecology, and everything in between!

Play with aircraft controls in an elevated USCG helicopter, control the weather on the Great Lakes – thunder, lightening, rain, sun (and perhaps get the 16-ft rainbow to shine!), learn about USCG uniforms, sea-going vessels, and aircraft through fun interactive stations, identify native and non-native aquatic species of the Great Lakes, make waves in a custom 14-ft wave tank, and so much more.
